Okay okay okay, PLEASE read before judging. I (29M) am very aware of how this looks. But I swear this was a tech mix-up, not a “pervy foot double life” thing like everyone’s saying.

So I’ve been dating Liv (29F) for 3 years. She has a twin sister Viv and I am not exaggerating when I say they are IDENTICAL. Like if Liv gets a new piercing I have to squint and check. Same voice, same phone case, same EVERYTHING.

Now Liv and I have this running bit — like, private couple thing — where she sends me foot pics when she gets a pedicure. It started as a joke because she caught me glancing once (DON’T JUDGE, they’re symmetrical and she moisturizes). Anyway now she’s into it, and sometimes she’ll send a lil foot pic with a cheeky caption like “freshly scrubbed for u” or “u miss these?”

So Liv went to the spa last weekend with Viv and sent me a pic of her feet in those little foamy sandal things. Very cute. I replied “I’d recognize those perfect arches anywhere” (I was being poetic). Then I sent back some pics I had saved of her feet from other times, because she always says she likes when I “curate” her beauty (her words).

EXCEPT. I sent them to VIV. Because their names are next to each other in my phone. Because I have them both saved as ‘L/V’ and forgot which was which.

So Viv texts back “??? why are you sending me photos of my own feet???” and I PANIC and try to unsend but iMessage has limits. So I go full blackout and throw my phone across the bed like that’ll help.

Meanwhile — apparently Viv SCREENSHOTTED the exchange to “warn” the family and accidentally dropped it into the family group chat, which includes my girlfriend and her mom.

Her mom. HER. MOM. Replies with:

“Well I always said he had good taste.”

What does that MEAN?? Why would you say that? WHO SAYS THAT???

Liv is now furious and says this is “a pattern” because: • I “accidentally” complimented Viv’s toe ring at the beach (I thought it was Liv!!!) • I once called Viv “you” when she handed me flip flops • And apparently I breathe “too heavy” when they do yoga together

Viv is being weirdly chill and keeps joking that I should start a WikiFeet page “for the whole bloodline.” MIL won’t stop tagging me in memes about “foot guys.” And Liv is threatening to change her name to something that doesn’t rhyme with her twin’s.

AITA for making an honest iPhone mistake and accidentally admiring the wrong twin’s feet?? Or is this a deeper family issue no man could escape???
