I (21F) and my (I guess now ex-) best friend (20M) used to spend all our time together during the pandemic. We’d watch anime over video calls and talk constantly.

The issue started when I was invited to join another friend group. Since I’m awkward and shy, I invited my best friend to come along, hoping he’d hit it off with them (they had a lot in common). But he got upset, saying he felt "used." Eventually, he agreed to meet them, and we all became close.

Here’s the bigger context: I started dating a guy from that new group, but when I broke up with him (after moving cities), the entire group, including my high school best friend, cut me off. They said I was "too mean" to my ex (which I was, but it hurt coming from people I trusted).

Now, my question: I don’t have a specific grudge against my high school friend, but he ghosted me too. Should I reach out to ask what happened, or just let it go? AITA for not figuring this out sooner? Also, I regret how I treated my ex, but was cutting me off entirely fair?
