So first of all I have to say that English is not my native language, so if I make mistakes, please forgive me.😅 My MIL has a cat, named Nala. Her cat was found in a forest as it was a little kitten. She was in a terrible state and needed immediate healthcare. Since this day, Nala has anxiety issues, she doesn’t go outside or let her be petted by strangers. She also doesn’t want to be alone. Last year my MIL made a vacation in Turkey with my SIL and my boyfriend and I decided to stay at MIL apartment, to be there for Nala. Nala stayed for at least 1 week under the sofa in the living room and behaved depressed. But when the time came by she opened herself up and me and Nala came closer. She slept every night with me in my boyfriend’s bed and we had a great time with Nala. My MIL bought a new cat in her vacation in turkey. Since the new cat arrived in her apartment, Nala is mad. She is aggressive, she attacks the new cat and she behaves depressed. My MIL decided to get rid of Nala, because she didn’t want to deal with Nala’s behavior anymore. So my boyfriend talked to me and asked me if I want to adopt Nala. I said yes, but under the condition, that they wait until I found a new apartment, because my current apartment is too tiny for a cat.(I live in a one bedroom, student apartment). I wanted to move to a new apartment at the end of this year. But at this time I was already mad at my MIL because I didn’t understand why she wants to give away Nala and not the other cat. The other cat is a kitten and maybe 1 year old, if she give the new kitten away, maybe it could have a good live in another family, but Nala has massive anxiety issues and she lived her whole live by my MIL. I can’t understand why she is so cruel and ignores Nala’s problems. If I was in her place, I would give away my new cat and not my cat that was by my side for multiple years.

Yesterday my boyfriend and I were shopping and he told me that Nala was already sold on eBay by my MIL. I cried. I was so devastated, because I wanted to give Nala a save space on my side, because I know her problems and we already bonded, so she doesn’t fears my appearance. My boyfriend is on my side and criticized MIL behavior. But she doesn’t see any issues. Am I the asshole?
