I recently stayed at an Airbnb and showed up 2 hours early by mistake. I misread the check-in time. The door code worked so I went in, dropped off my backpack, and charged my phone for about 15 minutes before heading back out. I didn’t make any noise or touch anything else. I came back later at the actual check-in time.
About 30 minutes after I left, the host messaged me asking why I had checked in early and said the check-in time was 5pm, which I later saw was in the first message she sent. I immediately apologized and admitted it was an honest mistake.
The rest of the stay went fine. I followed all the house rules and left the place clean. When I left and exited out the room, the host was standing in the living room. As I was leaving I said “thank you, have a good day” and she replied with “thank you for staying.”
But then I saw the review. She gave me a bad one and said I wasn’t friendly after leaving. I’m honestly confused because I was polite and respectful. The whole review focused on the early check-in, even though I apologized and didn’t cause any issues.
I use Airbnb several times a year and I’ve never gotten a bad review before this. I try to be a respectful guest every time, so this one really caught me off guard. Now that review is stuck on my profile and I’m worried it makes me look bad to other hosts in the future.
TLDR: Airbnb check in time was at 5pm. I was busy and accidentally didn’t read through the message and checked in around 300pm. I apologized to the host and admitted to the mistake. The host still left me a bad review
AITA?
