I (23M) have a stable job in my field and am in the process of buying a place. My girlfriend (22F) and I share the same long-term goals — kids, travel, careers — but we’re in totally different places right now.
She’s been bouncing between jobs (camp counselor, kindergarten assistant) and briefly tried interior design (her dream) but quit after falling into depression. Now she’s quitting her current job and moving back in with her parents (we currently live together) to save money. She says it’s temporary and wants to get back on track, but I’m worried she’ll stay stuck — she tends to leave jobs when things get hard.
She’s often drained or in a bad mood and sometimes takes it out on me. I’m not always empathetic and it’s starting to feel more like I’m her caretaker than her partner. I love her, but I’m struggling to picture a future if this continues.
AITA for feeling like I might not be able to wait for her to grow into the person I need her to be?
TL;DR:
I (23M) am stable and buying a place. My 22F girlfriend is quitting another job and moving back in with her parents. I love her, but I’m scared she won’t push herself forward. AITA for feeling stuck?
Please wait...
