My FIL informed me the day before my child’s party that he had bought a giant birthday cake for it. I had already gone and purchased everything and planned out a cake to make. I enjoy baking and like to make something special for my kids each year. I was obviously annoyed when this conversation took place because we don’t need two giant cakes (plus ice cream) for a birthday party. I felt blindsided and like I had just wasted so much energy planning and prepping. My husband was mad at me and said that I disrespected his dad when I expressed that I wasn’t going to make anything anymore since I didn’t know about this. He said I should always just be grateful no matter the circumstances and that I need to apologize. I wasn’t mad about the cake. Just that I was never told anything until right before I was getting ready to bake the other cake.
