📝 AITA for not telling my wife that her “surprise proposal” to renew our vows ruined my actual plan to serve her divorce papers?

Yeah. Buckle up. I 42M have been married to my wife 38F, “Laura,” for 11 years. We’ve had a rocky few years, counseling, long talks, even some trial separations. I tried. She didn’t. She’s never cheated (that I know of), but she’s controlling, emotionally manipulative, and, frankly, exhausting. For the past year, I’ve been quietly preparing to leave. Therapy, finances, legal advice all lined up. The plan was to wait until after our son’s school year ended, then serve her the divorce papers and move out. But here’s where it gets ridiculous. Last weekend, we had a family BBQ. Friends, kids, parents, everyone’s there. Suddenly, Laura gets on a mic and calls me up. Music starts playing. I’m thinking it’s some game or speech or something. Nope. She proposes........ She literally gets on one knee and asks if I’ll renew our vows and "start fresh.” Everyone was awaiting an answer from me, either filming or holding their breath in anticipation. I’m standing there like a deer in headlights holding a plate of ribs. I say yes, what else could I do in front of 40 people? Now she’s planning a vow renewal ceremony. She’s buying dresses, making Pinterest posts or whatever they are called and telling people this saved our marriage. Meanwhile, I have divorce papers in a folder in my car. I haven’t told anyone. Not even my best friend. And I feel like a complete fraud. But I also feel trapped. My therapist says I need to have the conversation soon, but every time I try, she’s talking about floral arrangements or how we should go on a second honeymoon. She swears she feels closer than ever but keeping this from her makes me feels even further distant. So Reddit… AITA for letting her believe this is a new beginning when I still plan to end it?
