So, I (31F) work with this guy, Mike, who is generally a decent coworker. Lately, I’ve noticed him acting a bit sketchy, like sneaking off to take calls and being super secretive about his phone. He wouldn't even give pay attention in meetings and during conversations. I started to get this gut feeling that something was off, and I overheard some gossip about him being seen with another woman.
For some background, I met his wife, Stacy, previously at a work party and we got along well enough that we exchanged numbers and went out for drinks a few times. We weren't super close but still friendly. Anyway, thinking I was doing the right thing, I decided to tell invite Stay out for drinks, where I told her about my suspicions. I figured she deserved to know if her husband was being unfaithful. However, after I dropped the bombshell, she confronted Mike, and it turned out he wasn’t cheating at all! He was actually planning a surprise anniversary party for her and was trying to keep it a secret.
Now, Mike is furious with me because I caused uncessary drama and his wife is upset too because I made her doubt him. Some coworkers think I was just trying to be a good friend by looking out for her, while others think I overstepped big time. AITA for saying something when I thought I was protecting her?
