📝 AITA for telling my dad that having another kid at 66 is weird and a bad idea?

So, my dad is 66 years old. I am 42 years old for reference. I’m an only child. His wife is 32 years old, they’ve been dating since 2017 and married since 2022. My mom died in 2015 - he became a widower.

Yesterday the whole family came together for Easter as it’s the tradition. All good and great, until dad decided he had some news to break and this was the best occasion. He announces that his wife is pregnant. 17 weeks - due around the end of September. Everyone congratulates them and is very positive, but I’m a bit unsettled. Either way, I act positive as well and decide I’ll talk with my dad afterwards in private.

I wait until all the guests have left and approach my father. I ask him why does he think having a kid at his age is a good idea. He says well, it wasn’t planned… but he’s happy about it because kids are wonderful and always a gift. He says he’s never drank alcohol, smoked, done drugs, etc. always ate healthy, kept active, took care of his body and mind, is fit, etc. he doesn’t feel “old”. By his calculations he still has a lot to live, he feels energetic enough to raise another kid. I tell him okay, but you’ll still be 84 years old by the time this kid becomes a legal adult. On top of that it’s just weird, my kids (his grandkids) are 4 and 2. He’s at literal grandpa age, way past father age. Getting a new sibling at 42 it’s just weird. I tell him to do whatever he wants, but I believe it’s a bad idea - for that kid in particular. Having a younger wife, whatever, but bringing a kid into the mix is another thing entirely.

My wife thinks I’m a bit of a jerk. She says she sees no problems with it: father’s secured financially, he’s in great shape physically and mentally, at least 1 parent (the mom) is young, he has a whole familial support system to step in if something happens to him. And what if he dies when the kid is young - life has no guarantees, we could die tomorrow as well.
