📝 AITA? The mini skirt dilemma

This was after I (18F)bought my first mini skirt. It was 100% my own money. Immediately after I was out of the store and brought it home, my mom (50F) told me I need to spend more money to get more quality clothing. There’s nothing wrong with that, but this was just after I bought a clearance skirt for $19, $9 after email, sale code and whatnot. I thought for using my own money that was a very responsible and decent purchase, since I’ll be going to college soon.

Back to the “quality clothing” comment, I don’t know what she means by this, since you can’t expect an 18 year old to dress in business casual, especially at fashion school. I thought our younger teen years were about experimenting with your personal style. I’ve never been a girl to wear crop tops, halter or tank tops, or even shorter skirts like I the one I bought.

Maybe I’m thinking too much. But I did think it was odd because I’ve had a close relationship with my mom and then she says this kind of off the handle.
