Hello, (21m) my parents (father specifically) couldn't save a dollar to save his life. It's always been me and my mother's goal to buy a house but I knew it'd never happen with his purchasing habits, im on disability so I can't hold a job and thus buy a house myself, so I turned to desperate measures... begging for cash occasionally, just a $20 here, $50 here, I've been doing it since 16 and kept every dollar for a house. The day finally came where I had over 15k saved. With my disability and first time home buyer breaks it was finally enough. Picked out a home nearby, sent a inspector and it was perfect, 2 bed, 1.5bath, no issues with the foundation or roof, no major damage and in the price range. I did the calculations between my monthly check, and his income the mortgage and insurance would be less then rent currently. Everything was great, dotted the "i"s crossed the "t"s and announced it to mom and dad, that we finally have a place of our own, I thought it'd be a fairybook moment, couldn't be more wrong... immediately yelling and screaming "oh this is what it was for, you being a begging bastard all these years, so you could get a house? God forbid you work for your money, if it wasn't for your mother standing up for your sorry ass I would've kicked you out" I tried explaining it wasn't just for me, it was a home for all of us. "OH yeah for all of us. That's why you kept it a secret, didn't let me know about it or show us around. You told me it was for living expenses" I said yeah, it's for my future living, once you're gone I'm not going to have a damn thing to live off of, a mortgage is cheaper then rent, I can at least make ends meet that way, what were you going to do with that cash anyways? Smoke it away? Oh I'm sorry it's drinking now right? He responded with "fuck you, I knew I should've pushed the abortion harder, get the hell out of my house I never want to see your sorry begging ass again. I know I shouldn't've snapped at him but I don't understand why he couldn't see it was a win for all parties involved. So I'm here to ask, am I the asshole?
