Writing this in a semi panic at 4 AM so please excuse any grammatical errors. A friend of mine, whom I’m very close to, recently lent me some sheets and a bed cover for my new place. I ended up going through some shit and going to live in a shelter, and asked if I could use the blankets again while I was there. They said yes, and told me to come pick them up whenever (I have a key, so I come and go even when she’s not home quite often). When I got there, the blanket, and a fuzzy blanket, were in one of those bedsheet bags. unzipped with sheets on top and a pillow, all sitting on a chair in the living room. Maybe I should have texted her and double checked, but I guess I just assumed I was meant to take all of it. To make matters worse, I took home some pajamas I’d left there, and accidentally packed a shirt of hers in my stuff. I texted her right away apologizing, but she was understandably upset. Flash forward to tonight, two days later, and I got a text after I went to bed asking if I “took everything on top of the blankets” and asking why I would do that. I woke up randomly at around 4 AM and panic apologized and responded but obviously haven’t heard back. I feel like a huge asshole for not double checking with her, especially given the fact that she was trying to help me out and lend me things for free. Am I the Asshole or is this an understandable fuck up?
