The context was my (18f) mom (42) told me that apparently my sister (14f) was jealous because her two former best friends left her out. She used to be in a trio btw.

My sister had some sort of annoyance at one particular of her so called besties. She told the other girl as the mediator (?) how she was actually dislike this particular person's behavior, maybe in an honest way that the girl was actually so shocked with my sister's confession. They ended up cutting off each other.

From my pov, I'm on my sister's side because the particular person was kind of mean. But mind you, I've warned her that even when's she thought she was right for pointing out the problem, her friends could dislike her and see my sisters as the mean one.

Anyway my mom told me behind my sister's back about how she's sad and all when she saw their two former best friends were hanging out together.

I replied with : "That's like the consequences..?" (My mom knew I've told my perspectives before my sister decided to point out how she dislike the way the particular person treated her btw)

Mom : "Everybody knows that already but can't you just have some empathy? You've always been bad at being sympathetic and empathetic."

Me : "No I mean-"

Mom : "I'm tired of talking to you" and she left me.

Wth?
