Throwaway for obvious reasons. I (40M) met my wife (35F) when her daughter, Addison was 7 years old, was just a little kid. I've helped raise her, paid bills, coached her soccer team-the whole dad package. I'd consider myself a really good father to her. Lately, my wife's been accusing me of being "inappropriate" with Addison and Lily. It started with small stuff: I'm her go-to for advice instead of her mom, we hug longer than "normal," and sometimes we'll fall asleep watching movies on the couch (fully clothed, nothing weird). But my wife flipped out last week when she saw Addison cuddling me. She's 12 so it's nothing weird, I don't think she's too old to receive cuddles. She said it was "disgusting" for a girl her age, but Addison just sees me as her dad and she was the one who initiated it. Now my wife's threatening to leave, saying I'm "too attached." I'll admit, Addison grown up fast, and yeah, she looks older than she is, and she's a very attractive young lady. She'd have no problem getting a boyfriend, i'm sure any guy would be beyond lucky to have someone as attractive as her. But i've done nothing wrong with her. AITAH for being too close?
