This started with her birthday 5 months ago, apparently she expected me to say happy birthday to her the second it turned 12, which I get, and usually I would do that, but she was out with her friends and I had to go to bed. I didn’t want to say it and just have her read the text hours later so I waited until the next day and just went to sleep. When I wake up she’s pissed at me, apparently her dentist sent her a happy birthday email before I was able to say it to her. This really upset her and we talked about it for a while, and I was under the impression the discussion was over with, I said sorry, I did my best to show I was, and it wasn’t brought up again.

Fast forward to yesterday, it’s my birthday now. She doesn’t say happy birthday to me in the morning. No problem, maybe she’s just busy, I wait a while, nothing, she’s talking to me like it’s not my birthday. Okay maybe she actually forgot, I can get over that. Then she mentions wanting to get me food so I say “so you did remember my birthday?” And she says “yeah I was just waiting for your dentist to say happy birthday first”. I was under the impression this discussion was over. We got into this huge argument because she is never able to talk to me about her issues before blowing things out of proportion like this. She didn’t even attempt to talk to me about the issue in the last 5 months, instead she just kept it to herself and waited until my birthday just to get even. AITAH if I broke up with her over this?
