📝 AITAH for calling out my friend in front of her crush for always copying me?

So I (23F) have this friend, let’s call her “Maddie” (24F), who’s been in my life since college. We’re super close, but lately I’ve been feeling like she’s... morphing into me?

At first, it was flattering—like, she started wearing similar outfits, dyeing her hair the same color as mine, even got the same piercing. Whatever, I thought. Maybe we just have similar taste.

But over the past few months, she’s taken it up a notch. I’ll post a selfie on IG, and the next day she’ll post one in the same pose, same angle, same makeup. I mention I’m into tarot, suddenly she’s got a deck and is doing readings. I get a job at a cool startup—she applies to a different one but literally writes the same “girlboss” caption I used when I announced it.

Anyway, fast forward to this weekend—we’re at a friend’s party, and I’m chatting with this guy I’ve had a little flirt thing going with. Maddie swoops in and immediately starts mimicking things I say. Like I say I love hiking, she suddenly also loves hiking. I say I love indie horror, and she goes “Omg SAME, have you seen insert movie I literally recommended to her last week that she said was boring?”

I kind of snapped and said, “Do you have any original opinions, or are you just downloading my personality?” in front of everyone.

She looked mortified, walked off, and now some of our friends are saying I was mean and could’ve pulled her aside instead of embarrassing her. She hasn’t texted me since.

So... AITAH for calling her out publicly?
