My gf and I have been dating for about two years. We’re both 23. She works part time and I go to school.

Yesterday, after work, she called me because she was composing herself after a shift. I was sitting at my computer, working. I usually just leave Spotify open. Spotify has a friend activity tab where you can see what your friends are listening to if they allow it. My gf was listening to some new playlist her ex made - i know it’s new because it’s another spotify feature on pc/mac. I very gently asked what was up and why she was digging through her ex’s spotify for music.

For context he had contacted her earlier this week because his mother is unstable and he thought she may have contacted my gf. They dated for 3 years and apparently their contact is limited enough that she might be under the impression my gf is still dating him and try to call. My gf also still has most of his belongings clogging up her basement because he lived in her parent’s house bc of this supposedly unstable mom. As long as the contact is respectful of our relationship, with the amount of business they have, it’s whatever.

I really don’t care about the fact she was listening to a playlist curated by this dude. What I don’t like is the coverup. She claimed that she was digging through her old music and found this playlist among others from years ago and did not go on hir profile (blatant lie). I think this guy is way more “on the brain” than she is willing to let on or admit and I’m really bothered by how not forthcoming she is about it. If she was honest I probably wouldn’t care but this now leaves me guessing because she can’t put effort into just telling the truth or even a decent lie. I’m studying to become an attorney. I’m tough to bullshit. AITAH?
