I (21/F) just cussed out my roommate (also 21/F) for taking a shower at 1am.

Context here, there’s already been multiple occasions in which I had to have a sit down conversation with her due to her being inconsiderate when it came to the rest of the household. She had essentially moved her boyfriend (of 4 months) into our house of 5 girls. Without any previous conversation/permission from anyone in the house, with doing so she also proceeded to ice everyone in the house out. So push came to shove & i had been elected to confront her about it. Set some boundaries (that essentially got ignored) & went on with our lives. That talk was about a month ago.

To explain things better, the layout of the house is 2Bath (one up stairs & one downstairs in the master bedroom). The downstairs bathroom is shared with three girls, she’s one of the three. Upstairs bathroom is mine & one other roommate. So, the funny thing is all her personal hygiene stuff is downstairs. Another thing, I share my bedroom wall with the bathroom so unfortunately I have the curse of hearing every little thing that happens in the bathroom. So what, if it’s nothing noisy I can sleep through it.

So lo and behold when I’m trying to fall asleep, i hear the bathroom door slam shut, the shower start to run & multiple voices talking. I immediately text my roommate who i share the bathroom with if she’s the one taking the shower. So when i get that text message of “No.” my blood starts to boil & i get another text word for word “no it’s annoying, i can hear them too”.

So i jump out of bed genuinely enraged, i bang on the door, & get the response of “i’m in the shower.” So i yell through the door “why are you showering at 1 in the morning, i’m trying to fucking sleep & i can hear you guys through the wall.” she said something in response but i was irritated & didn’t want to start a screaming match late at night soo i walked away without hearing it.

Was there a better way to go about this? Did i overreact because i’m tired? Hopefully this makes sense but please AITAH??
