I (26M) have been dating my girlfriend (25F) for two and a half years. I have only brought her to family gatherings a handful of times. My aunt (65F), who is extremely online, pretty much just followed her out of the blue one day and hasn’t missed commenting on every single post that she has made ever since.

It’s all in good nature and nothing that she comments is “inappropriate” and that’s part of the reason why I feel like a massive jerk for being slightly bothered by this. To me, it feels a little overinvolved. My family wasn’t in touch with this aunt for the majority of my life for reasons that have not been explained to me, so I am not particularly close to her. My girlfriend hasn’t spoken to her outside of the obligatory small talk at the few family gatherings I’ve brought her to.

I spoke with my girlfriend about this because I care about how she feels and she doesn’t seem to think much of it.

The constant commenting just doesn’t feel necessary. I can’t even really define why it makes me uncomfortable, but I just feel like one of my boundaries is being crossed. I think it has something to do with me not knowing this specific aunt very well.

I guess the solution here is to probably get to know her better so that I feel more comfortable. That aside, AITAH?
