I had an employee that seemed like she was doing okay at first, but when I checked her private social media that she uses under a pseudonym, it had some really troubling indicators about her politics on there. For one, she displayed one of those pride flags in her profile, and also used she/her pronouns in her display name. I confronted her about it and she didn't deny that it was her account. I brought it up to my team, who as far as I can tell all voted for Donald Trump in 2024, and they said they don't want to work with her anymore. They cited the last decade or so of leftists getting people fired over politics and insisted that turnabout is fair play. I considered it for a few days before ultimately deciding to fire her. She's now trying to collect unemployment and I'm challenging it, since unemployment eligibility requires that you be fired through no fault of your own, and voting for communism is definitely something that is your fault.
AITA? Why or why not? Should rightists show more quarter today in this respect than leftists did over the last decade?
