For starters I'm 15f and I'm autistic. My special interest is a show that I loved ever since I was 9. My parents know about it and my mom sometimes even watches it with me, but my dad doesn't like it very much, as he's "too old for it" (as he says). Anyways, since it's my special interest, it's very much the only thing I can think, therefore talk about. Of course, I too talk with them about school and stuff, but it's just not very fun for me. As a child I didn't really pay much attention, but as I grow older I'm noticing that my parents don't exactly listen to me while I talk about it. They don't ask any questions nor add anything, just either stay quiet or go "yeah". Whenever I ask them why aren't they paying attention, they always say "We are listening". I tell my mom that it doesn't seem like it, and that she should also indulge in the conversation,not let me talk all by myself. Whenever I say this, she gets mad and says how I cannot force everyone to talk about my interests, and that I'm rude for making them listen to it against their will. I'm not very good at determining whether or not I'm being in the right sooo guys please help me out with this
