So I never learned how to ride a bike. In my family’s home country riding a bicycle is not really a thing, so my parents never bought one for me to have me learn as a child. Then time went by and the older I got, the less it was a priority for me to learn.

I told my boyfriend that I didn’t know how to ride a bike and he thought it was funny but told me no worries, he would teach me.

Today we were hanging out with his friends and a couple of them were chatting about biking on some trails in the city. My boyfriend was like “can you believe it, (my name) doesn’t know how to ride a bike?”

They were all shocked and were like “omg how did you not learn?” I explained why but they kept asking questions because they were so surprised. One even laughed and said “damn that’s kind of sad”. I felt so embarrassed.

I asked my boyfriend afterwards why he felt the need to bring that up and how humiliated I felt. He said it’s not a big deal, he would teach me soon anyway. I’m still upset that he put me on the spot that way. AITAH?
