I (F25) and my boyfriend (M25) were recently staying at his parents’ place. When we were packing up to leave, he said, “Make sure to pack their things.” I was confused and asked, “Their things?” Instead of just clarifying, he got frustrated and snapped, “You know I mean our things. Stop repeating what I say and just use your brain for one second.”
I immediately felt really triggered. This isn’t the first time he’s spoken to me like this. There have been other times when he’s been unclear about something, and when I ask for clarification, he gets annoyed and says things like, “Just use your brain stop repeating what I said.
For example, we ordered Dish A for takeout, and he’ll say something like, “I can’t wait to eat Dish B” (which is a similar dish but not what we ordered). When I ask, “What do you mean, Dish B?” he immediately gets annoyed and says, “You know what I’m talking about.”
It makes me feel stupid for simply trying to understand him or responding to what I find vague or misleading in his word choices. AITA?
