Short and sweet. My biological brother and I are early birds, up at 4 every day for work as a butcher and pouring concrete respectively. My stepbrother is getting married and the reception starts pretty late, pushing 1am for an end time. I told my dad that we can 100% make the wedding since that's the more important aspect of things but we're not going to the reception to hang out with two families we don't know beyond my dad, especially when I'm up at 4 the next day. Apparently this caused a big issue and my stepmom is pissed, she said 1) skip the wedding and go to the reception if we're going to skip one of the two events 2) come or don't bother trying to talk to that part of the family again. Real kick in the nuts because things just started to be mildly friendly between us and them

Am I just crazy for thinking the ceremony is far more important than a reception and thinking that door-slamming your husbands two sons is insane for skipping a reception or am I an asshole
