I (21F) just got offered a HUGE internship at a well known fashion brand in NYC. It’s literally what I’ve been working toward for years, I applied to like 15 places and didn’t expect to get this one, but I did and I was super excited.

Told my boyfriend (24M) right away and… yeah. His whole vibe just changed. He was quiet for a bit and then started saying he’s not comfortable with me being in “that kind of environment.” He said the fashion world is full of “creeps” and that he knows how those people are. That there are parties and “things happen” and that he just doesn’t trust it. (???)

I told him I can take care of myself and it’s a professional opportunity, not some Vegas trip. He said if I go, I’m clearly putting my “career over our relationship.” So I said, “I guess I am, then.”

Now he’s mad, hasn’t texted me in days, and his mom (??) texted me saying I’m throwing away something real just to chase some ‘glamorous lifestyle.’ I’m literally gonna be fetching coffee and doing spreadsheets lmao.

Some of my friends think I should’ve been more sensitive to his feelings, but honestly… am I crazy here? AITAH for choosing the internship?
