CONTEXT- Me 18F live in a PG in delhi with a roommate 29F. I live here for my studies and she works. The thing is, our PG is lowkey notorious for theft. Things have been going missing, including money, previously my 3K cash was stolen, the next time it was 5K with the wallet, even the fruits, icecream or chocolate I keep in the fridge gets stolen at times (it's a common fridge). So.. The same has happened with my roommate and the other roommate (no money stolen only watches) she left a while ago.

So you get the shit, okay well so moving on... Lets call my roommate Remi. It was the 1st of April, she said she has some problem going on back home, she wants to relieve stress so she wants to smoke, tho I do not smoke, I prefer not meddle in between people's business they aren't dumb enough to not know the consequences. And I said this cause she is actually going through shit cause of smoking, having issues conceiving. I've talked to her once about it. And I did that night aswell, asked her to think again. She just shut me up by saying I'm a decade older than you, you don't know shi blah blah. So I kept my mouth shut, Accompanied her to the terrace, we talked for a bit, I ate, and I started texting my boyfriend as she talked on the phone. She asked me to get the remaining cigarette and coldrink which is downstairs, I denied at first but went eitherway, couldn't find the cig so I left the door open didn't lock it as it was quite late at night, and I assumed she or I would come down eitherway for the cig. So I went with the coldrink, handed it to her, and then she tells me that oh shit that's not where it is it's in my cupboard, well I refused to go, But then she asked me again after like 30-40 mins, kept insisting, so I went, got the cig, I got a call from my bf so started talking to him, and I turned the lights off and went upstairs. Didn't lock the door. After an hour, she went downstairs, and I stayed to talk a bit more. Then followed her downstairs like 10 mins later. And the moment I enter she tells me her 1K is missing from the purse. And idk what to say. It was so late at night, I didn't notice her purse. But I blamed myself for not being careful. I offered her to give her the money she lost cause of me, she declined, even after me insisting.

TL;DR: I (18F) live in a Delhi PG with my roommate Remi (29F). Our PG has frequent thefts — I’ve lost money and food before. On April 1st, she asked me to get her cigarette while we were on the terrace. I left the room unlocked. Later, she found 1K missing from her purse. I felt guilty and offered to pay, but she declined.
