I have misscomunication with my boyfriend about sleeping/tv watching behavior.

I (30f) can sleep anywhere and with anything in the background(tv,music, light, idc.) but because I am actually tired a lot because of work/fitness etc. I would never be the person to ask "can you turn it off because i want take a nap" or "i am falling asleep can you turn tv off". I believe if you sleepy then you sleepy and you will dall asleep no matter what. And i believe your "habits" or ways of doing stuff shouldnt interrupt others.

My boyfriend (38m) he need complete darkness and silence to sleep. And because of this sometimes we are not agreeing in the evening about stuff because I am not tired and I feel like watching something still in bed but he is trying to sleep for few minutes and in the end its always "how long tv will be on?" Which is a hint to turn it off. And I cant understand this, that if you feel like sleeping then you are just sleeping no matter what and if you cant then you just not that tired so why forcing yourself and also pushing this on other person to turn everything off and go to sleep.

When I am telling him this that its not very smart that he is forcing himself to fall asleep when he cant he is saying that I am selfish for still pushing my opinion and need to watch stuff above his sleeping need. While for me he is selfish to tell me to turn things off because he want to try to sleep.

I am wondering if I am the crazy one here or he or we both are assholes that cant understand eachother. AITA? Please give some advices how to solve it. Its not happening often, usually we are agreeing on bedtime but every few weeks we have this one evening when this little conflict happens and then it feels really frustrating. Ps. No I cant be in other room because we have studio so there is no seperate room where I could stay up later. Help!
