I'm going to apologize anyway but I want to know if how I feel is justified. A family member told me (16m) a few weeks ago that my (30f) aunt was hurt by me not saying thank you for a gift from 2 years ago. Basically I accidentally forgot to say thank you that time without realizing it and no one ever told me so I never knew. But the reason I don't wanna apologize is because she's missed my last 2 birthdays. And with hindsight I assume that me not saying thank you that time was the reason (though i could be wrong). Her feeling hurt is completely fine and I wouldn't ever do something like that on purpose. I just feel that as someone double my age she should've communicated this anytime earlier than 2 years later and not hold it in as a grudge.
