Alright I'll try to keep this brief. My wife and I recently moved into a new house we inherited and upon moving in realized something. We now owned two washers and dryers. We had our old set from our apartment and the set that was already in the house from the family. So naturally we kept the best set and decided to sell the other set online used. We ended up giving the dryer to a family member so we only had the washer listed online.
My wife listed the washer for $200 and after a month or so of dealing with the usual problems (scammers or people offering way too little for it) we finally found someone interested. Guy haggled a little and we settled on $175 and I'd help him load it into his truck. He drove over from another city to ours to pick it up and as agreed paid and I assisted him in loading it into his truck. In the truck was his wife and their seven month old baby and he kept telling us how much of a lifesaver this was because their washer had broken. We were happy that the washer was going to help them out and wished them well.
Today he began messaging my wife. They've installed the washer and are claiming that it's not spinning out to end the cycle. I'm not entirely sure what to do because we know that washer was working when we sold it and there's no way of knowing if he damaged it between the trip home and installing it. Part of me feels bad just because he has a young kid and I generally want to see a new family succeed but at the same time we sold him a working washer and we're not responsible for what happens to it after he leaves with it. AITAH?
