My house = the house my family and I share. We all live together as adults because it works for us.

I ordered a lot of books that came in one package. It was 50cm x 30cm x 20cm and 8kg (17lbs). It was too heavy for the delivery driver to take it up the steps or steep driveway so it was left on the sidewalk.

It was also too heavy for me but I knew my dad could get it inside the house. The problem? He was at work. Instead of waiting for him, I busted open the package and brought in a few books at a time.

My mum spotted this and wanted to know what was up and why I was doing such ‘an embarrassing behaviour’. One conversation later she says I should have waited for dad to come home and do it for me because the neighbours would have seen me tear the package apart and bring everything in one bit at a time.

Her biggest complaint is that it looked like I was carrying rubbish inside the house because it was coming from a box on the sidewalk and the books being individually wrapped in white plastic bags didn’t help. She doesn’t want the neighbours thinking we are taking in trash.

Yes, I could have very easily waited for my dad but I wanted to get everything inside. AITA
