For reference, my high shool has a book fair and there is one book that everyone is really excited about, the new Hunger Games book, Sunrise on the Reaping. It has come out a couple weeks ago so it isn't in any library or store close to my town and it is 19 dollars for paperback which isn't to bad but I just didn't want to order it. When I went to see the price of the book at the book fair it was a hard cover which makes the price go up. It was 28 dollars which I thought was quite expensive for a book and there was only one copy. Everyone (which there was about 10 people) told me they don't have that kind of money for a book but at the same time really really want to read it. So an idea came up. I thought that I could buy the book, read it and rent it out to people afterwards for 4 dollars and give them a week to read it. I thought that it was a good plan and a reasonable price to rent out that book but as soon as my mom found out, it was war. When my mom asked me how my day was I told her about the book fair and my plan assuming that she would think it's a good idea. But then she started getting mad and telling me what I was going to do is 'imoral' and that a bad person would charge people money for knowledge. But the thing is, it isn't imoral and my dad even agrees. He told me that it is entrepreneurial and a more than reasonable price to rent out that much of a sought after book. My mom told me that if I do do that she will find out and take away all my money and donate it to 'teach me a lesson' for 'taking from people'. But there is some irony here. My mom talks about Jeff Bezos (the creator of Amazon) and how he was a genius and had amazing entrepreneurial skills and how she wants me and my siblings to be like him. But the thing is, Jeff Bezos started Amazon by selling books and when I brought this up and told her that she must then think that Jeff Bezos was imoral she told me that it wasn't the same thing and grounded me for giving her back talk. So, AITAH?
And please be respectful to my mom, she is trying her best and I love her.
