So for context I didn’t eat before work today since usually I get my break pretty early. I start at 2 and get a break at like 4:30. Instead my break got pushed to 5:30 today. I was bagging for a while during a rush and when it hit 5:30 my other coworker arrived and I told everyone I’d be going on my break. Sat down at 5:32 and came back around 5:48. Told one of my coworkers I’d be going to the bathroom real quick then got back at like 5:51 fully. I understand that’s probably too long for a fifteen minute break honestly but that’s not what I’m really focused on. None of my coworkers said anything so I kept working. Later after I got off work, as I was leaving I overheard one of my coworkers telling the others that I apparently took a 25 minute break. I found out that she also thinks I don’t do my job. She was complaining really loudly in the front of the restaurant! For the record I don’t go on my phone at all when I’m working unless I’m on a break or getting a drink. This really embarrassed me and I’ve been thinking about it all night. I messaged my manager to apologize if I was acting off today as well. Am I the asshole here?
