So this past weekend, my boyfriend (22M) invited me (19F) to come with him and his friends out on the lake. They’d rented a boat and were doing a chill day - swimming, drinks, music, the usual summer stuff.

It was super hot and sunny, so I wore a white bikini I really like and this blue-and-white cap I always throw on when I’m outdoors. It’s not like it was super revealing or anything - just something I felt comfortable in. I also wore a little shirt over it when we first got there, but I took it off once we started swimming and tanning.

Everything seemed fine, but later when we were packing up, my boyfriend got all quiet. On the drive back he told me I “should’ve worn something else” and that I “made things awkward” because a couple of his friends kept looking at me. He said I should’ve “read the room” and that it was “a little much.”

I was honestly confused. Everyone else was in swimwear. I wasn’t acting flirty or anything, just vibing like everyone else. I told him I didn’t think it was a problem - I mean, I liked how I looked that day, and I don’t think it was that crazy of an outfit. You can probably get what I mean if you see it.

Now he’s still being off with me and I’m lowkey second-guessing myself. AITAH?
