AITA: bc I can’t afford to pay a ParentPlus loan?

So in I was able to go to college during the 2016-2017 school year. However in 2017 I had to drop out due to my health. (Needed emergency brain surgery that left me deaf, in a wheelchair , blind in one eye and becoming dependent on my mom) At the time of the college process I was under the impression everything was covered by financial aid (that’s what I was told by my mother, I had no reason to believe what she was telling me was untrue) after I dropped out I found out there was 2 loans one under my name personally and another under my stepfather’s name. She told me it was my responsibility to pay both. I was being paid to babysit my neighbors kids and she paid me weekly plus tips so it wasn’t a problem. During the pandemic student loans were paused and I got a letter from the department of education telling me bc I had recently began receiving SSI, my personal loan was forgiven. When my mom saw this letter she told me BOTH loans were forgiven, I had asked her to call and verify that but she told me there was no need. I stopped babysitting during the pandemic for obvious reasons and moved with my mother to another state. Recently she got a letter in the mail from the lender informing her (my stepdad) that they were resuming payments. So I pulled up the conversation where she told me BOTH loans were cancelled. She called the lender and they spoke. I AM DEAF SO MY TRANSCRIPTION APP ONLY CAUGHT BITS AND PIECES OF THE CONVERSATION. She saw that and told me they said it was still my responsibility to pay the loan under my stepfather’s name. I told her I cannot afford to pay that bc despite living with my mom rent free, I do have my own expenses. Did some digging and I eventually found out the type of loan it was (ParentPlus Loan) and that I was never responsible to pay that but again despite me being on disability and unable to work she expects me to pay for this loan monthly when my SSI benefits barely get me through the month. AITA bc I can’t afford to pay this?
