I am 19F and I have been dog hunting the past few weeks. I’ve mentioned how much having a dog again would mean to me, to my mother and her boyfriend. My mother and I saw a puppy we loved, but my mother’s boyfriend wrote a paragraph to my mother telling her how much he wasn’t comfortable with having a dog at home. So we went home. Then the next morning, my mother woke me up and rushed me to the pet shop. She told me that she would be able to convince her boyfriend and we should get the dog right now before someone else does. I wasn’t thinking clearly or of anything but my own feelings, so once we got there, I signed the contract and bought the dog. After, my mother tells me about what her boyfriend said about having a dog and he got really personal about it. She told me we would have to hide the dog in the apartment until he agrees to have a dog. Now I’m stressed out because how are we gonna hide a dog in our apartment? I barely know my mother’s boyfriend and I feel terrible. We have a week to get our arrangements together and figure out a plan, then we take the dog home. Advice? AITAH? How can I not be the asshole? Come clean? Then I’m worried about getting my mother in trouble. Try to return the dog and only get 50% of my money back? See if a friend can watch the dog for the time being?
