For context my friend and I are both 26F. She’s always been very insecure about her looks and taken social media too seriously- not a good combination. Shes on the heavier side so that’s always been a big insecurity of hers, along with scarring on her face and body from acne. Shes a very attractive girl though. When I say that she takes social media too seriously, I mean that she’s always obsessing over how many likes she got on a post, how many likes someone else got, etc. Stupid things like that.
Anyway, due to her insecurities she’s been photoshopping herself and facetuning her photos a lot- but to the point where it looks very unnatural. Almost comical at times. I don’t know if maybe she has some kind of blindness to it, but everyone we know seems to notice it right away and make fun of her behind her back for it. I agree, it does look really cringey and unnatural. Our mutual friends and even some of my friends have brought it up to me and laughed about how bad it looks. Or they’ll screenshot her posts and send them to me, clowning her.
I don’t really know what to do in this situation. Everyone around me thinks that I should tell her. Im torn because Part of me feels like if I were making a fool out of myself on social media for the world to see, I’d want someone to tell me. The Other part of me, doesn’t want to hurt her feelings.
What should I do?
