Fake names to protect privacy. Me (25f) and my mom (49f) were at the house of my Aunt Maggie (51f) and my Uncle Tony (54f). We were all to meet up with my dad (49f) then attend a family function. We were all dressed up. When I got into the kitchen, my aunt was in the kitchen alone. She looked ready to go but she smelled like sweat. It was really strong. I didn't want my aunt to be embarrassed but I was afraid to tell her directly. I asked my aunt if she was nervous and she said no. She asked me why I asked. I told her I'm nervous and that am afraid of stress sweat because I didn't want to end up smelling like sweat. I was trying to broach the topic as gently as possible. My aunt asked me I was saying that she smelled sweaty. I said a little. My aunt lost it on me. She said that's going through menopause and that a woman's smell changes with menopause. She said I will get this smell too so I shouldn't be so smug. She called me a creep multiple times in her ranting. Her ranting attracted the attention of my mom and my uncle which is when she stop ranting and she stormed off to her room. My aunt and uncle didn't end up going to the family function. I went with my mom and dad, who said nothing to me about what happened. I was just trying to follow the golden rule. If I was smelly before going to an event with a ton of people, I would want someone to tell me before I go. But maybe I overstepped. Am I the asshole ?
