Okay,so! Lately I went vegan. I'm 17, so obv I still live with my mom, and she wasn't much happy about that. Y'know, the typical "where will you get your protein from" talk. But anyways. I have a mantis. Had him before I went vegan. Mantises eat living bugs, and as far as I'm informed, feeding them only dead ones can make their health worsen. I don't want anything bad happening to him, so I just keep on with his usual diet. Yet, lately my mom called me out for being a hypocrite, because, quoting, "You care so much and won't drink cow's milk, but you kill the bugs for one insect?". It got me wondering if I'm being a hypocrite for doing so, because technically mantises are carnivores and it's for his health, but still, I'd like an opinion from someone else.
