This was like a year or two ago. I was talking to a guy that was an engineer out of sea in Florida. We were talking for a while and I actually started to like him.

When I started to like him he supposedly lost his wallet in the sea. He asked me for a visa gift card and I said no. I also explain that I couldn't afford to give him money and support myself since my income is based on social security.

He didnt listen to that ans kept asking me for the visa gift card. I kept saying no and I told him to go to shore and get a new debit card from the bank.

He still didn't listen and gave me reasons to get a visa gift card. I kept saying no and I kept giving him the same reason why I can't afford to.

When we finally got past that and it didn't give him any money he started accusing me of cheating even though I never did. I finally got tired of it and I broke up with him.

His friends gave me a reason to go back to him and I refused because my ex kept accusing me of cheating and the fact that he wanted me to give him a $65 visa gift card. I never talked to him and his friends again.

Am I the asshole to not give him a $65 visa gift card and breaking up with him?

Edit: He was a believer in rituals and he told me to do one to make sure I was serious about our relationship back then. And the ritual said that if I broke up with him he's gonna die. Honesty I think he's fine.
