This morning, my dad got dizzy and fell, hitting his head. He came home and didn’t tell anyone. Around 10 AM, my sister found out and rushed him to Chettinad Hospital in Chennai. The hospital wouldn’t treat him without booking a bed, so she got a private room and started tests.
The bill is now ₹50,000. I earn ₹55,000/month. My sister earns ₹2,00,000/month. She’s now expecting me to pay half, which is nearly half of my salary.
If I had been there, I would’ve taken him to a good, more affordable hospital. But I wasn’t even consulted. This isn’t the first time my sister has made big financial decisions on her own and expected me to contribute equally.
I love my parents and want them to be safe and healthy, but I feel like I’m being financially pressured into decisions I had no part in.
AITA for saying I can't afford to split this bill?
