📝 R/AITA for refusing to create a PDF for my congregation until we get the website password

I volunteer for my congregation which is run by a board who are all volunteers.

I am producing an online monthly newsletter. The newsletter is on Substack and I can post the feed on the congregation website. Instead, I have to create a PDF and the PDF gets posted. The PDF takes a lot of time.

The last volunteer created a website with their personal email. So you can’t sign in because you can’t get secondary verification.

So what’s happening is I have to spend time laying out the PDF every month, someone gives it to the last volunteer, the last volunteer posts the PDF on the website.

I’ve asked the congregation board since November.-to ask the last volunteer to swap their personal email with the congregation email. This process would take 15 minutes (maybe). Then I could put the RSS feed on the site and no longer have to create the PDF.

Some background:

  1. The board does notunderstand online at all. They think everything is created in Microsoft Word. I’ve drafted the letter they can forward to the person.

  2. Last volunteer responded once to say they don’t want their personal account on the congregation website then stopped responding.

  3. Yes, no one can access the website. The website is on a web builder platform. Except for PDF’s being posted, nothing has been updated in about 5 years.

  4. Last volunteer no longer lives in area and was out of country for a while and apparently now has young children.

AITA for refusing to create the PDF? I feel if I don’t stop, there’s no reason for the board to do anything. I feel guilty though because they keep asking me to n do it. And I feel it makes no sense and a waste of time. Plus it has to be signed off on (not just laid out)-so it’s time consuming.

Also-likely I’m the most difficult person they have to work with. That feels awful too.
