Man, I gotta tell this story right, ‘cause it was one of the most confusing things I’ve ever been through.
I met my ex, and from day one her behavior was off. Every time we planned a video call, there was always an excuse: “My hair’s a mess,” “I look awful today” — and the call never happened.
Later, she told me she was autistic. I tried to be understanding, but things just got weirder. Conversations felt like monologues — she’d only talk about her cats, nephews, or past relationships. I’d just sit there, listening.
One time I got mugged and nearly lost her number. I was feeling terrible, and her reaction? “If you don’t text me, I won’t text you either.” Seriously?
She always complained that we never went out, but every time I invited her, it was excuse after excuse. If I insisted, she’d agree, but the next day hit me with a: “Maybe we should just be friends.”
Still, we went out. We kissed, started this ‘thing,’ but she never let me near her phone. Only gave me her Instagram after we broke up.
One day at the mall, she started acting strange, mood swinging out of nowhere. Another time at the park, after acting all couple-y, she made it clear she didn’t want me to meet her family. I was suspicious, but let it slide.
And the mood swings? Once I joked about her being too picky, and she freaked out. Another time, I criticized a game while we were playing, and she instantly logged off.
The craziest part: she invited me to a party, kept saying “I’m not going” / “I’m going” over and over. When I got there early, her sister let me in. I brought chocolates to apologize for supposedly hurting her.
At the party, she introduced me as her boyfriend, but out of nowhere said: “Let’s download an app to find you a hot girl?” Like, what?? Later, she wanted me to sleep over, but I left.
The final straw was when she came over, gave me chocolates, and suddenly said: “Wouldn’t it be better if we broke up?”
I ended it. She cried, blocked me, later claimed I “sent her to therapy” and “ruined her happiness.” Days later: “I miss you more than I thought.”
We started talking again — until I found her on a dating app. Her excuse? “I was helping a friend look for her ex.” LOL.
Even after that, she invited me to her mom’s party, her mom even called me asking if I loved her, and she kept sending “I miss you” texts. When I posted an emotional rant online, she saw it and replied: “You used me. I’m just insecure and autistic. I prayed for you every day.” And blocked me for good.
In the end? I still don’t know if it was autism, mind games, or just immaturity.
Anyone else ever been through something like this?
