So the story will be short. My wife 32f last year wanted to go on a short vacation to New Orleans with her sister for 7 days. She invited me37m but knows that I absolutely did not want to go hang out with her and her sister in New Orleans and check out voodoo magic stuff that they are into. I have no objection to her going but due to our financial state we can't really afford multiple vacations each year. The issue comes when I was asked by my oldest friend 42f to go spend 5 day exploring Vancouver island. I asked my wife if she would mind and she assured me it was fine. I told her that at any time between now and when the trip was(about 3 months away) she could say she wasn't comfortable with it and I would not go no questions asked. Well I went on the trip and my wife drove me to the airport. After I got back a few weeks went by like everything was fine. But then she would start making comments about me hanging out with my friend. It eventually spiraled into her having. Meltdown about me loving this other woman and how bad it hurt her. I haven't apologized because I feel like I gave her every opportunity to say if she objected to the trip. And to be clear we are just friends and nothing happened on the trip. So AITA for not apologizing for going on the trip.
