Hello fellow humans.
I was in a relationship with J for a bit over a year - it was wonderful, and I truly loved her.
She had some debts that I was happy to help with, however she insisted that any help would be subject to a legally-binding contract.
I agreed, and a Notary Public was present.
Our relationship disintegrated afterwards - she was enthusiastic in using the Credit and Charge cards I'd given her, however spending time with me was far too hard, as she claimed that all she was capable of handling was work and exercise.
I ended things in late 2023 - this was the first and only time I have ended a relationship. A week later, J sent me a text asking if she could drop in to set up a bunch of Christmas decorations (she really loved Christmas), and asked about my elderly cat.
My elderly cat died barely a few hours prior. I communicated this to J, and she said that she had a dream of said wonderful companion being able to jump again and being with her sister (her sister, who was younger, lost a battle with cancer in 2021).
Although said sentiment was expressed, she immediately abandoned the idea of coming over.
Subsequently, she sent me Venmo requests for support, asks for benefits from subscriptions I maintained, and continues to attempt to use the cards I gave her (they're all locked).
I don't need the funds, and I suspect that the ask will impose complexity upon J - I supported both her and her family whilst we were together.
All of that said, the logical part of my electric-meat-skull-thing says I should call the debt in.
