Me (20) and my boyfriend ‘J’ (24) have been dating for around 6 months now. We were planning on going out with his mate ‘T’ and his new not quite gf ‘E’ which none of his has met before.

While my boyfriend and T were planning what we were going to do on speaker phone in the car, T asked us both not to mention any of the drugs he does to E because she split for him for a bit when she saw drugs in his car.

I talked to my boyfriend about how that’s really not ok that she has set up clear boundaries with drugs, he said yea but he’s my mate so just stay out of it.

I thought about it all afternoon and night and when I met E I could tell she really liked T but got really uncomfortable by the odd drug joke.

I decided to tell her near the end of the night. She was devastated and started shaking and was very upset that T had been lying to her. I told her that my boyfriend does it sometimes too but we have strict rules that it can’t be around me and shit. She responded saying her rule is no drugs.

When us 2 couples went out separate ways I told my boyfriend that I had told her because I didn’t want to betray his trust more then I already had. He was very mad and I ended up going back to my parents rather than staying with him.

I thought I was doing the right thing by looking out for a fellow woman and I would have wanted the same thing if it was the other way around, but I don’t know anymore. AITAH?
