📝 WIBTA for going to HR about my supervisor’s repeated inappropriate behavior?

I (32M) have been working at my job for about six months, and during that time, my supervisor (40s, M) has made me uncomfortable on multiple levels—both with sexual comments and completely unprofessional behavior.

He frequently makes inappropriate sexual jokes around women in the office. One of the most disturbing examples was when he told a female coworker to “put her t*ts away”—but using even more vulgar language. It wasn’t said in a joking tone or in private; it was out loud in a shared space, and no one called it out. This kind of behavior happens regularly, and it’s made the environment feel hostile and grossly unprofessional.

Beyond that, he acts like a man-child any time something mildly stressful happens. For example, a resident once reminded him that he said he’d replace her shower head—something he promised three months earlier. Instead of handling it calmly, he threw a full tantrum. He stormed around the property screaming, cursing, and yelling “f*** that b*” loud enough for others to hear. His favorite quote is you can suck my * and says this openly to everyone. He wears his aggression as a badge of honor.

I’ve started documenting everything, because it’s honestly exhausting and stressful to work in this kind of environment. I’m considering reporting him to HR, but I’m still fairly new, and he’s been with the company longer and is well-connected. I also worry that I’ll be seen as overly sensitive or that it won’t be taken seriously, especially since some people still seem to think he’s “just joking around.”

Still, I don’t think anyone—regardless of gender—should have to work in this kind of environment.
