I (18F) have been friends with this guy, I’ll call him J (18M) for awhile. I met him through a mutual friend I’ll call K (18F) we clicked instantly and became fast friends. Eventually I developed feelings for him and made it pretty blatantly obvious. We would cuddle pretty intimately, he said I reminded him of love songs, ect. So, I thought he liked me too but we were just both too nervous to make it official. So, I worked up the courage to ask him to senior prom. He said yes. J doesn’t go to my school so I had to buy the ticket, which was $85/ticket (pretty expensive for a broke highschooler) and I was totally fine with it because I thought we would have a fun night together. He even asked me what color my dress was so he could match his tie.

So here’s where it gets bad. K, who I had known for 4 years at this point comes up to me and says that she was actually dating J, but it was “totally fine if we still went to prom together” which I found odd because a few months ago she had told me she had no romantic feelings for him and J said that he would just “see her at prom, it was no big deal” a week ago.

I feel very betrayed that they wouldn’t tell me, because I feel cruel going to prom with K’s boyfriend, but I also wasn’t in the wrong because I genuinely didn’t know.

Tickets are non refundable and you had to get a form signed that me and J were going and sitting together so I can’t exactly just transfer it to her.

However, I was thinking about it and it feels like he led me on for quite awhile and they both were very dishonest with me overall. It feels like they don’t really value our friendship as much as I do.

So, WIBTAH?
