I’ve been talking to a guy for about 3 months. We live about 1.5h away from each other either by car or by train. We’ve been on 5-6 (taking turns in the locations), he’s super nice but I don’t think we’re a romantic fit, although I would be happy to continue being friends.

The next time we meet it should be in my location (my turn - he would not allow to switch), and I feel icky having him drive all the way here, going on a date, breaking up at the end, then he has to drive home with it - he’s also quite emotional.

However, breaking up over text or on a phone call is usually pretty frowned upon. Would I be the asshole if it broke it off virtually before the next date or is that the right move?
